Skin Care tip: Have a Bedtime Routine
June 6, 2020We at WOCBEAUTY know at the end of the day, the last thing we want to do is spend 15 minutes prepping our skin for bedtime. However, the best thing you could do for your skin is creating a nightly beauty practice such as washing off your day and your makeup.
WOCBEAUTY simple 6 steps nightly routine
1. Cleans
Use warm water when cleansing your face it minimizes the chances of irritation. It can also be relaxing – a great feeling before bed.
Your facial cleanser is the base of your bedtime skincare regimen, You will want something that effectively removes everything while targeting concerns without irritating your skin.
2. Exfoliate regularly.
Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, clear pores, prevent breakouts and smoothes your skin’s texture. You can use a facial cleanser with acids or small granules, an exfoliating mask, or an exfoliating brush with your cleanser 2-3 times a week.
Just read the product label to ensure it’ll work with your skin type.
3. Use a toner.
Toners are meant to restore the skin’s pH balance after cleansing, they shrink the appearance of pores, serve as protection, and eliminate any missed debris or residue left over from your cleanser.
There are 3 types you can choose from:
- Toner. Water-based; doesn’t include alcohol. Cleanses and balances the skin and provides hydration.
- Astringent. Includes alcohol to control oil production and minimize pores.
- Tonique. Includes a smaller amount of alcohol plus humectants for a deep cleanse and moisture.
After drying your face, place a few drops on a cotton round and gently wipe it across your face, neck, and chest.
4.Apply a Serum
Serums are great products, more people should start including them in their skincare routine. They’re liquidy and thin, but they pack a punch. The ingredients are highly concentrated to target specific skin issues, such as brightening and evening skin tone. Also, they usually include vitamins and nutrients to nourish your skin. Serums provide lightweight moisture and are easily absorbed. They make a great supplement to your moisturizer as it boosts hydration.
5. Moisturize.
This is one of – if not, the most – important steps in your bedtime skincare routine. And, yes, moisturizer is safe for oily skin types.
Moisturizer provides a layer of protection, prevents the skin from becoming irritated, and promotes a smooth texture.
If you have certain skin concerns, like wrinkles, nighttime is the time to address it. For example, apply your eye cream anti ageing cream and let it work its magic while you’re asleep.
You might even see a noticeable improvement the next day. Many products, like retinoids, increase your sensitivity to sunlight.
Apply these before you go to sleep, and you won’t have to worry about hiding from the sun.
6. Get the recommended amount of sleep.
It is said the average adult needs 7-9 hours of sleep a night.
While you’re sleeping, your skin repairs the damage it encountered during the day. This is one of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to achieve great skin.
We understand we all lead busy lives, balancing school, work, family, or all at once. Remember that it may take some time to make your routine a habit, and that’s okay. You don’t have to follow each tip to a T; do what works best for you.it’ll be worth it in the end. When you wake up, you’ll notice a positive difference in how your skin looks and feels.
